Jordan Meets Federer: Presenting The NikeCourt Zoom Vapor AJ3

Tennis has been one of the most impactful providers of sport culture to Nike, with earlier releases from the 80s living as legends of the brand’s footwear catalog. With that rich history in support, the brand has launched NikeCourt – a new category inspired by Nike Tennis DNA that implements contemporary design to classic apparel and footwear pieces. The debut collection of NikeCourt continues with this incredible unification of greatness from two distinct courts, resulting in the limited edition NikeCourt Zoom Vapor Tour AJ3.

The sneaker combines the DNA of the Zoom Vapor Tour 9.5 with the iconic elements of the Air Jordan III, as seen by the elephant print on the toe and heel, the Jumpman tongue, and the Nike Air on the heel. The sneaker is still very much the Vapor Tour 9.5, with the Dynamic Fit and Zoom Air allowing this rebuilt sneaker to be fully wearable on the court. In fact, if you tune into Federer’s first match of the U.S. Open tonight, you’ll see the shoes on his feet.

Air Jordan 3 “Liquid Gold”

Can you imagine if the “Liquid Metal” theme were to extend to the Air Jordan realm? We’ve had a fleeting taste of what such a shoe would look like thanks to Usher and his gold Jordan 3s, but we’ve never seen anything close to a retail release. Again showing us what’s possible is Mache Customs, who crafted this pair for a customer that features the shiny look up top – although he skipped out on the reflective part of the equation.

Air Jordan 4 “Columbia”

2015 will be a hallmark year for Jordan Brand thanks to the new Remastered line of Retro releases. Quick refresher: “Remastered” is a coined term for a new style of Air Jordan manufacturing that promises better overall quality in materials and shape as well as accurate depiction of details such as the Jumpman logo and so forth. The Air Jordan IV “Columbia”, a Retro+ colorway from 1999, is one of the confirmed 2015 Jordan Releases, and today we get another few snaps of the shoes before we bring you a detailed preview in the coming weeks. One thing to note: the “Remastered” Retros will cost a pretty penny, with retail prices above $200 being confirmed in early reports. Air Jordan 6 “First Championship” Will Not Release

Does this Air Jordan 6 look familiar? The pair has quite a bit of overlap with the Tim Howard Air Jordan 6, although this pair lacks the reflective 3M upper of that one. This time around there’s a clean white leather treatment on the top, and the shoe in question is apparently intended as a celebration of MJ’s first championship in these sneakers.
But this Air Jordan 6 “First Championship” – a new colorway that gathered in a “USA” look with the red, white, and blue colorway. The response was massive and it was clear that the public would have welcomed a release with open arms, but it looks like that won’t be the case because Jordan Brand confirmed today that the shoes are a “special project” that will not hit stores.

Air Jordan Future “Black Ice” + “Sport Blue”

Surprise! While Nike has these two Air Jordan Future pairs slated for an August 27th release date, you can head over to Footaction today and grab them a bit early. The Jordan Future has been a fairly unpredictable sneaker in terms of what materials will show up on the upper, as it has switched between the original woven aesthetic and this 3M-wielding mesh variety throughout the latter half of summer.

Air Jordan Future Flight Remix

The Air Jordan Future Flight Remix has so far been very concerned with looking to parallel retro styles that are on the shelves for colorway inspiration. When it first showed up, the shoe had a black and yellow mixture not unlike the “Thunder” found on the Jordan 14. And this time around, it’s running with the sport blue theme and pairing that look with some black and cool grey.

Air Jordan XX3 White/Gold

The Air Jordan XX3 definitely has a higher aggregate secondary market value than any other new Air Jordan design from the past decade. That’s mostly due to pairs like the “Titanium” and“Finale”, but it’s also helped out by all the sample and PE versions floating around out there. Earning plenty of attention is this white/gold version of the shoes, which is allegedly the only pair in existent aside from a size 13 for MJ himself.
